small light, slow shutter

Late light by the canal

I went out late on Sunday because the sky had been doing something odd all afternoon — a flat grey turning slowly orange — and I wanted to see what would be left of it by the time I got there.

Not much, as it turned out. But a few minutes of clean side-light on the brick across the water, and that was enough.

For seven days I left the zoom in the bag and only took out the 35. The constraint was supposed to make me think harder. Mostly it just made me walk closer to things.
